On April 13th I pareticipate the 』 coronation』 in San Antonio
There were about twenty exchange students. Everyone wore thier native country’s costume to show on the stage. Coronation for Kings and Queens. I carried the Chinese blue Butterfly and wore the traditional Chinese costume to represent our country. I also met several Chinese people in the coronation. I was trying to speak Chinese in the begining. But Judy remind me that I’m still in the United States. So I’m suppose to speak English. For not speaking Chinese a long time. I really missed my country and family.

There is only one 』Taiwanese exchange student』 in San Antonio. So when ever there is the chance to show my country(Taiwan).I always try to do my best. Sometimes its lonely. But its also more challenge!!
Here are some of the pictures from coronation!!Hope you’ll enjoy it~

Dear Ayusa:

This is Huang Cheng Yin!!
On December 11th. There was an activity to present our own culture
in Texas museum. I wore very traditional Taiwanese(Chinese) costume.
And I brought the Chinese chess to show them how to play and the
history about the chess. How does it come from?? Who invented the chess??
And of course my world map!!Most of people in United States don’t know what Taiwan is. The thing they only know is I’m Asian. Well…It wasnt really surprised me.

Since last time the presentation in Hallettsville. I already knew that.
This time I told the detail of everything about Taiwan. It’s not China.
I m the only exchange student from Taiwan.Show them the flag.told them what the color represented. We spent whole day in the museum. It was a very very tough day!!but….the it was really really wonderful day!!

(CR RD) didn’t advertise really well.people who came were only our 』host parents』 and a few guests. So this time They made the poster and
put the pictures on the poster. And fortunately..they put my picture on
the poster!!I was teaching a little boy how to play
chinese chess. It was really fun!!on April 30th.there will be the
other presentation in Texas museum.I will do it better and let more people know about Taiwan!!

                                                   Huang Cheng-Yin

On November 15th,I participate the International Education week.We went to Hallettsville to have the presentation in Sacred Heart Indian High School.I met about twenty different countries exchange students in this activity.Everyone wore clothes that represent the custom that they have in their country.Of course so did I.I wore the Chinese traditional clothes. for the speech of presentation. I prepared two weeks to get ready. I made the world map, some alphabets,New Year scrolls, chopsticks, the currency and of course the flag of Taiwan.I made a big map with my host grandmom.the day before we go .I also practice for my host family.During the activity. I spent a night in the other host family’s(They have a kid in the school that we are going to present) house.I lived with the other exchange student. He is come from Isreal. The specific character that he has are shy and quiet.
So during the night. I was the only person who keep talking with the host family. We talked about the
food ,career, education, govenment of course the different life between American and Taiwanese. And I also
present the things that represent Taiwan.Like Chinese chess.chopsticks. So on that day.I went to bed like almost one o’clock. But it was really fun to talked to them.

On the next day.We arrived the school. CR(Maggie Denny) ,RD(Judy) both told us about how will
the process going on.each of us are going to have the presentation speech for fifteen minutes. And we
have four different classes to show on.In the begining of the presentation I was really nurvius(the first one) .
But after that I feel everything is going okay.I spoke more fluently when I was talking.I let them know about where is the location of Taiwan.Because all of them don’t know anything about Taiwan. I also present Taipei 101.The second tallest bulding in the world. And what was the background for the flag.Taught them how to speak some Chinese words.Talked about a little relationship between China and Taiwan. I was being more confidence and more confidence. In the last presentation.I don’t even
have to think about it.It’s really a good improvement for me.After the presentation. Each of us gain for three T-shirts and a cap for Hallettsville.I’m not really a good speaker. But after the avtivity.I know that
I have ability to speak really well.I really gain a lot by participated this activity!!And
my English is getting better and better!!

Some of Europeans exchange students will laugh at us(Asia) about learing bad English. So for me.It’s really a good chance to prove that Asia aren’t that bad!!

                                                                                                                      Haung,Cheng-Yin Robert
