My Germany Journey

My dream finally came true, from now on for a year, I’m all by myself in Germany (but you know what, it does feel good!). It’s a day worth to memorize, today, I step on my first day of independent, I’m now declaring myself I’m a grown up. I bet it’s the best 16 birthday present ever! I’m really glad I got this opportunity to leave my parents, leave home, leave the place where I born, raised and known best for a while to see this world. I always thought I’m brave enough and I’ll never miss my family, but I’m wrong, totally wrong. When I walked in the boarding door, I couldn’t stop turning my head to my parents, I wanted to see them, even a small glimpse, I wanted to run back and give them a big hug tell them goodbye again but I couldn’t, I knew I would cry if I did that. And I felt lonely when I walked in the boarding door, it was really complicated, I miss them badly, but on the other hand I’m so glad I finally have the courage to leave. I have never been to Germany or any other European country, but I’m really excited, I’ll enjoy this fantastic year, do my best and learn as much as I can.
Before going to my host family, we went to stay at a sort of a camp and learned some German. Basically I was the only two or perhaps three Asians here, all of them come from USA or Mexico. I guessed my English is fine but it was still a gap there anyway for no reason. I didn’t know what exactly the feeling was but I guess I was kind of afraid (surprisingly) but on the other hand excited and tense. I guessed sometime it’s good to feel fear and pressure; both of those make people to develop. After these days, I found that compare to Taiwan’s teenagers, Americans are way more confident than us and I guess that’s what Taiwan students should gradually learn. And I just can’t understand… They always thought Taiwan and Thailand is the same country…

I really like this picture cause it’s like though I’m all by myself in this journey, but they will always have my back, they will be there for me anytime.
During the 3 weeks language camp, we went to Leipzig a big city in Germany where some famous musicians used to stay and created their masterpiece there. We visited some amazingly stunning cathedrals.

We went to the fire station in Hedersleben, we tried to use the water pipe stuff and I cut a little piece of a car by a special tools

Today, 8 September 2012,
I’m finally meeting my host family!! I’m so exciting, though I’m kind of sad to leave the language camp. I met some awesome friends, really appreciate them give me a great memory in the language camp. During this 3 weeks language, I have not only learned some basic German but also how to express myself since I’m like the only two Asian in the language camp. Now I’m on the train, in 4 hour, I’ll met my host family for the very first time, but I’m not nervous or worry at all cause you know they’ll be the best host family ever.

Here is two of my best friends in the camp.

My classmates and teachers in the language camp.

I arrived at my host family! Just like what I expected they are incredible and guess what my host house is seriously a five stars vacation villa with the best host family members and the cutest dog. They are super nice host family I feel extremely comfortable and cozy here. The first day of school’s awesome too, I spent like a morning to set up my schedule and look around the school. My very first class of my first day of school is English class, I felt kind of smart during the class which give me some confident cause I know I’ll lose most of them when I have the other class. I met some nice girls in the English class, during the break time they took me to the downtown Aachen and introduced this beautiful city to me. We went to the Aachen city hall, the hot spring fountain and the most important place-H&M. Since I got my first two friends, I started to meet their friends and now I guess I always have someone to sit beside me and help me during the class. I’m fine and I have a great time so far. Ich liebe mein Leben!
